Our Church School meets regularly September through June. We offer classes for Pre-K, K-Grade 3 and Grade 4-Grade 8. Our classes are small and our teachers in the younger groups have many assistants. This makes personal attention the norm and allows for creativity in the choice and design of curriculum.
Our curriculum is taken from the on-line resources of The Whole People of God. It is based on scripture and coordinates with the lectionary and the church year. We also use curriculum written by our Board of Christian Education. This year’ s home designed curriculum explores 5 excerpts from the Sermon on the Mount.
Our students are also invited to be leaders in worship on Sundays in which we use intergenerational worship materials. They play important roles in our Christmas pageant and are invited to participate weekly in the opening activities of worship and monthly in our celebration of Communion.
The Church School sponsors Felipe, a 15- year- old from Fortaleza, Brazil. We send $21 per month to Child Fund International to help him with health care and education. The students also participate regularly in other church missions, such as gathering donations for the Rutherford Food Pantry and Trick or Treat for Unicef.
Registration for our church school is open to all children and we welcome drop-ins.
