KEEPING FAITH, REACHING OUT, WELCOMING ALL

Celebrating 110 Years of Spiritual & Community Service

All are Welcome

Welcome to the Rutherford Congregational Church website. We are very excited that you have joined us. We strive to recognize and nurture the Christ in ourselves and each person that we encounter along the way. The United Church of Christ is a thriving community of believers, and lovers of the word of God. Rutherford Congregational Church has a long tradition of outreach and service to its members and the community. We hope you will join us for service on Sunday to experience for yourself the fellowship of Christ.

"WHITE PRIVILEGE: LET'S TALK"

Building on our work with the curriculum, "White Privilege: Let's Talk," we wish to continue the conversations relating to racism, in all its aspects, manifestations and structures.

Our fifth conversation, Sunday, April 15, at 4 p.m., will feature Dámaris Ortega who will speak from her life experience as a Latina woman.

Co-sponsored by the Rutherford Civil Rights Commission.

The event is free; no tickets required.

The public is welcome and invited.

A reception will follow at the conclusion of the afternoon's conversation.

Further conversation leaders will be:

Apr. 29 - Service to commemorate the life and work of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., co-sponsored by Rutherford Civil Rights Commission.

May 20 - Rutherford's own: William Galloway

Christmas Eve Candle Light Service

During the singing of "Silent Night" the sanctuary slowly progresses from brightly illuminated to darkness illuminated by lit candles and blue lights. The first verse of "Silent Night" was sung in German by Emanuel Meli with Fred Dammers on Guitar. (Link to video: SILENT NIGHT )

As the song progresses the sanctuary slowly darkens.

During the German verse the lighting shifts from bright lights to a subdued night time light.

By the end of the song the only light is candles, the blue light of night and laser lit stars.

A new lawn display welcomes all to the Rutherford Congregational Church. The church has a long and proud history of reaching out to the community and welcoming all into worship and fellowship. This is reflected in the churches Mission Statement - Keeping Faith, Reaching Out, and Welcoming All (Mission Statement) and their decision to become An Open and Affirming congregation (Open and Affirming Statement).
