For the second year RCC has assembled those who really enjoy caroling to find a venue and do some good for those in need. This year, both singers and non-singers, members of the congregation and guests who wanted to participate, contributed to the project: Monica Fisher created a marketing brochure/order form for those ordering singing telegrams for parties, families, children, elder church members, friends and shut-ins and arranged a promotional effort for the street fair in November; Rae Fisher made scarves of red flannel that made us look like an identifiable group, Carol Anderson recruited the singers and organized the schedule, and Carol Marshall suggested a catchier name for our product for future years: CarolGrams. Over four nights, a rotating group of enthusiastic carolers visited 14 homes in Rutherford. With additional donations from recipients, we raised $360, all of which will be donated to Family Promise to feed the homeless in southern Bergen County. Pictured here, left to right, carolers Ruth Simpson, Carol Marshall, Rev. Greg Rupright, Carol Anderson, Greg King, and Suzanne Reynolds. Singers not pictured: Beth Cassels, Phil Reynolds, Caroline Sundell and her daughter and granddaughter, Terry Scott. Like our concert series, rummage sale, flea market, and Easter Egg fundraisers, caroling both engages the larger community and ensures that Rutherford Congregational Church gives something back to it.
